Making your Teeth braces a fashion accessory

Here are some options for customising and personalising braces to make them more fun and appealing for children:

Some popular choices of personalisation

Coloured elastics: This is the most common and versatile way to personalise braces. Most orthodontists offer a wide range of colours to choose from. Kids can pick their favorite colours, school colours, or even create a fun color pattern with different colours on each tooth. Some options include:

  • Classic colours: Bright colours like pink, blue, green, or yellow are popular choices.
  • Seasonal colours: Matching the elastics to the season (e.g., orange and black for Halloween, red and green for Christmas) can add a festive touch.
  • Themed colours: Choosing colours that match a favorite sports team, character, or hobby can make braces more exciting.
  • Glow-in-the-dark elastics: These can add a fun element, especially at night.

Ceramic braces: While less noticeable than metal braces, natural, teeth coloured brackets themselves can be a way to skip the traditional metal look. However, these may not be suitable for all cases. Discuss this option with your orthodontist.

Character brackets (limited availability): Whites Dental as a private practice, are able to work with you in sourcing specialty brackets in the shape of hearts, stars, or other fun designs. These are typically used for the front teeth only and might not be widely available.

Decorative ligatures (limited availability): These are the small ties that hold the wire in the brackets. In some cases, colored or patterned ligatures might be an option to add a touch of personalisation.

It’s important to remember that customisation options may vary depending on the child’s specific treatment plan. We would encourage you to book a free consultation to ensure the options your child wants are available and are suitable and won’t compromise the effectiveness of the treatment.
