What Is Invisalign?

What is Invisalign

Invisalign is a world-leading smart-track set of clear aligners that utilise advanced digital technology to scan, simulate and then create digital treatment plan to straighten your teeth.

It uses a series of aligners to move teeth – each set moving your teeth a tad bit towards their desired positions, the next set of aligners in the sequence moves your teeth further along until all your teeth are in their desired final positions. Each set of aligners needs to be worn for 1–2 weeks before moving to the next set in the series. During your treatment, the dentist will closely monitor progress, making adjustments to ensure the treatment goes to plan.

Invisalign has transformed more than 10 million smiles and is hugely popular with patient’s worldwide.

What Issues Can Invisalign Fix?

In the hands of an experienced dentist, Invisalign can correct most misalignment cases

Over Bite

What issues can Invisalign fix – over bite

Overbite occurs when the teeth of the upper jaw overlap / protrude much further out over the teeth of the lower jaw – when the mouth is closed.

Open Bite

What issues can Invisalign fix – open bite

Openbite occurs when teeth of the upper jaw and lower jaw don’t touch when the mouth is closed.

Cross Bite

What issues can Invisalign fix – cross bite

Crossbite occurs when some teeth of the top jaw sit inside the teeth of the lower jaw, instead of on the outside – when the mouth is closed.

Under Bite

What issues can Invisalign fix – under bite

Underbite occurs when teeth of the upper jaw sit inside the teeth of the lower jaw, instead of on the outside – when the mouth is closed.

Gapped Teeth

What issues can Invisalign fix – gapped teeth

Gaps between teeth occur when there is extra space between two or more teeth. This can happen due to abnormal growth of the jaw bone or teeth size being smaller in comparison.

Crooked – Crowded Teeth

What issues can Invisalign fix – crooked crowded teeth

Crowded teeth occur when there isn’t enough space for all the teeth to fit on the jaw – either upper or lower jaw or both. This can lead to some teeth to sit behind or in front of other teeth.

How Long Does Invisalign Treatment Take?

Invisalign Express

Invisalign Express treatment duration is 3-4 months usually

Invisalign Express is designed for patient’s that require very minor teeth movement – for example very mild crowding or very minor spacing in the front teeth. It’s often focused towards aesthetic needs.  Invisalign Express is not suited for most patients as the teeth movement it offers is very minor. Treatment duration is 3-4 months typically for up to 7 sets of aligners.

Invisalign Lite

Invisalign Lite treatment duration is 6-9 months typically

Invisalign Lite is often used when the patient requires mild to moderate teeth movement – e.g. correcting mild crowding or teeth spacing. Invisalign Lite is suitable for about 30% of our patients usually – as it is often not sufficient to achieve fully straight teeth. Treatment duration is 6-9 months typically for up to 14 sets of aligners.

Invisalign Comprehensive

Invisalign Comprehensive or Full treatment duration is 12-18 months usually

Invisalign Comprehensive is designed for patients with moderate to severe teeth misalignment issues such as crossbite, underbite, crowding etc. 30 aligner sets are usually enough to treat most issues. Complex cases can require more aligners.  Invisalign Comprehensive is recommended for best teeth straightening results. Treatment duration is 12-18 months usually.
